    Quad

A lamp made to document my knee surgery and recovery - featured in the Head Hi Lamp Show 2024 part of the NYCxDesign Festival.

This lamp was made to document a time in my life: my first surgery, a knee surgery. It changed the way I look at life and shed light on a lot of things around accessibility. My quad was used as a graft for my ligament, and the larger feet on the lamp have white stitches on the quad. The lower legs represent all my loved ones who took care of me and helped me recover.

I got ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair surgery 10 years after an injury because I didn’t know it had happened. This was sudden and I was away from family. My family away from family, my close ones from ITP in New York took care of me throughout. This was my first surgery and I went thorugh various emotional phases, and the recovery was and has been possible thanks to them.
